Liam Byrne MP today urged Birmingham City Council to ‘seal the deal’ on a new super health centre for the Bromford & Firs.
The Hodge Hill MP met with council chiefs and representatives from the NHS to confirm a draft agreement for the site of a new health centre in Hodge Hill. The draft agreement now goes to Cllr John Lines, Cabinet Member for Housing, for final approval.
A long campaign has been fought by Liam Byrne for new health centres across the district and he will continue to monitor progress now that the site on Firs Farm Drive has been confirmed.
Liam said:
“I’m delighted that the council and the NHS have approved a site for the Bromford. It’s long overdue and took some banging heads together but now it looks like we’re there. This isn’t the end of the campaign by any means though – myself and local residents will not rest until every brick has been laid. ”
He added:
““Hodge Hill has some of the worse health outcomes in the country. The Bromford is one of a number of locations round here that need a world class, cutting edge health facility. The significant difference this will make for local people is obvious but I also hope that new health centres will contribute to the wider regeneration of the area.”
Liam is also pushing for health centres in Shard End near the Prince of Wales building and on the derelict land adjacent to the old Leyland Club in Washwood Heath.
